About

I am a TCK, educator, aspirant writer and expectant mother and Mondays Anywhere is where these interests intersect.

Why Mondays?

Mondays are the first day of the work or school week (in many parts of the world, though not all, when I taught in Bangladesh we started the school week on Sunday and that took some getting used to...) and I love new beginnings. In my imagination, Mondays offer the promise of a fresh start and all the exciting possibilities of the week ahead.

Why Now?

While I have entertained the idea of starting a blog for years, I am finally starting Mondays Anywhere along with a few other projects, because I am expecting our second baby in just a few more months and that approaching due date is lending me the motivation I needed to get these efforts underway now. My hope is that I can build some momentum before my little boy arrives, and then relax and coast on that for a bit when we have a newborn.

When my daughter was born I found the transition from full-time teacher to stay-at-home mom more of a challenge than I expected, and most of that difficulty came from the mind-numbing monotony of those newborn days. This time I will have a toddler and a newborn, so I am not expecting to be bored, but whenever I can sit down and work on projects like Mondays Anywhere - even if I can only work on them a little at a time - has been refreshing.

I hope that wherever you are, whether you are a teacher, a parent, an expat, or a TCK yourself, you will find something refreshing here too.

(Also, if you are curious what else I am working on you can find a list on the "Projects" page in the navigation menu.)
